Southampton ‘CAST OUT Mohammed Salisu from their squad amid doubts over his commitment

Published

on

The centre-back was exiled from the squads that faced West Ham and Manchester City as Premier League action resumed after the international break, with both ties ending in defeat for the relegation-stricken side.

Whilst the club has blamed the absence on an ‘unspecified injury’ picked up whilst on duty for the Ghanaian national team, Salisu returned to training last week.

As per The Athletic, the 23-year-old is instead considering his options after prolonging discussions over a new deal to keep him at St Mary’s for more than a year.

The Black Stars player signed for Southampton in the summer of 2020 from Real Valladolid, after attracting a raft of suitors – including Manchester United and Rennes – but is entering the last 12 months of his contract, which expires in the summer of 2024.

With Southampton sitting rock-bottom in table after a lacklustre season, a number of players with time running down on their deals with the Saints are waiting to see if the club is relegated at the end of the season before working out their next move.

Having recorded just two wins since the mid-February, Southampton could be facing their first spell in the Championship since 2011/12.

Newcastle are said to be interested in adding the defender to their squad as they look for greater depth in the hope of adding European football to their fixture list this season.

Discussions have been further complicated by intricacies within the organisation which represents the player.

Salisu’s agency, JM 10 – which was founded by the father of Chelsea and United star Juan Mata – was acquired by CAA Base last season, and this presented additional complexities.

The player has made 80 appearances for the club since joining for a £10.9million fee two-and-a-half years ago and has been an important presence that the club, trapped in a relegation battle, can ill afford to go without for much longer.

Watch Out For these 4 African Players at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup

Published

on

The World Cup features four teams from the continent: Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia, and Morocco. These teams have brought top players to the tournament, including Asisat Oshoala, Barbara BandaRefiloe Jane, and Ghizlane Chebbak.

The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand brings together the crème de la crème of world football, with five-time Ballon d’Or winner Marta of Brazil and the current holder of the title, Alexia Putellas of Spain, among the star attractions.

Africa’s four representatives, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia, and Morocco, are also bringing star-studded squads to the tournament.

Some of the top African players have made waves playing with European sides, giving their teams some X-factor.

So, who are the African players to look out for at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup?

Asisat Oshoala (Nigeria)

The Nigeria striker is currently among the most feared forwards worldwide, following her exploits with Barcelona, where she has been the top scorer in the last two seasons.

The 27-year-old has been termed a ‘blessing’ by her Nigerian teammate and captain, Onome Ebi, and it is not hard to understand why.

Oshoala literally carries Nigeria at major tournaments, and this was clear at the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations when the Super Falcons ended up fourth, having come in as firm favourites following the striker’s injury in the tournament-opening match.

After exploding onto the scene at the 2014 Under-20 World Cup, where she was the top scorer and best player, Oshoala has shown remarkable consistency.

This will be her third straight World Cup, and she will become the first African player to score at three tournaments if she finds the target in Australia and New Zealand after her exploits in 2015 and 2019.

The five-time African Player of the Year gives defenders nightmares with her strength, pace, and movement on and off the ball, with her finishing second to none.

Barbra Banda (Zambia)

At just 23, Barbra Banda was already making waves worldwide and giving World Cup fans what to expect with her exquisite finishes as she scored twice in her country’s shock 3-2 victory over Germany on July 7.

That was after her impressive performance at the 2020 Olympics, when she scored back-to-back hat-tricks, the first player to do so in the event’s history.

Last year, Banda was excluded from the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations due to a dispute regarding her gender eligibility. Nevertheless, she remained in Morocco and motivated her teammates to achieve an impressive third-place finish. Banda, who captains the Coppa Queens, was eventually reinstated and went on to score ten goals in five matches at the 2022 Cosafa Cup.

Currently, Banda plays for Shanghai Shengli in China, but a European team will likely sign her due to her exceptional speed, vision, and finishing abilities.

Ghizlane Chebbak (Morocco)

Morocco’s captain Ghizlane Chebbak was named player of the tournament at the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations when they finished second while earning a maiden World Cup ticket, and she carries her nation’s hopes to Australia and New Zealand.

Daughter of 1976 Africa Cup of Nations winner Larbi Chebbak, she was the joint top scorer as Morocco made waves at the continental tournament, where they made a return after 20 years.

The playmaker is Morocco’s record scorer with 21 goals from 60 caps and finished her fifth straight season as the league’s top scorer as her club fared well in winning the 10th title in a row.

Morocco is also known for having one of the strongest defences in the World Cup and will be seeking to score goals to seal the deal.

Chebbak’s exceptional set-piece skills will be useful during the tournament, as she rarely misses free kicks, corners, or penalties. Her excellent passing ability and pace in the final third will also create scoring opportunities for her teammates.

Refiloe Jane (South Africa)

It’s not often that central midfielders get recognised, but South Africa’s captain, Rafiloe Jane, is too talented to go unnoticed. She plays a crucial role in all aspects of the game, seamlessly connecting the team’s defence and offence.

Despite her small stature, Jane excels as a deep-lying playmaker, creating opportunities for her teammates to score rather than scoring herself. She is so vital to the team’s success that South Africa’s performance suffers when she has an off day.

Named to the Team of the Tournament at the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup, Jane was central to Banyana Banyana’s run to the final and ultimately winning the title.

The Sassuolo midfielder is the one who will be controlling the tempo of the match as South Africa looks for their first-ever win at the World Cup in their second tournament.

Nigeria-born Ade Adepitan could become the first wheelchair star on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing

Nigeria-born Ade Adepitan could become the first wheelchair star on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing

Published

on

Strictly Come Dancing’ bosses are lining up a Paralympic basketball player to be the first wheelchair user to appear on the show.

They want TV presenter Ade Adepitan to star on the dance show after deciding a sportsperson would help producers navigate the complexities of their most ambitious attempt to make the show inclusive.

BBC sources also say that Strictly chiefs think it will be better to have a male celebrity in a wheelchair rather than a woman as it will provide more opportunities for the female professional dancer to be lifted in the air and sashay around the wheelchair. One source told Daily Mail on Sunday: ‘So much work has gone into this project as Strictly goes where no other show has been before. It is not an easy one to orchestrate but there are things that are going to make it easier.

‘To have someone who is used to being more nimble in their wheelchair would make things less challenging. Having a man instead of a woman will also make it more achievable for things like lifts. That’s not to say going forward that can’t change. Strictly is determined to make this work. They want their programme to be open to all.’

Adepitan, who contracted polio as a baby, has been playing basketball since he was 12.

He was a member of the Great Britain team that won bronze at the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens.

The Nigerian-born star has guest-presented The One Show. He has also hosted BBC2 series New York: America’s Busiest City in 2016, and has co-presented the BBC’s Children In Need appeal for seven years.

The Mail on Sunday revealed last month that Strictly is to feature a wheelchair-bound celebrity for the first time.

Show bosses had planned to do it last year but ran out of time to train a professional dancer to partner with the contestant.

The move comes after the popularity of the show’s first deaf participant, actress Rose Ayling-Ellis, who won the title last year, and Paralympic swimmer Ellie Simmonds, who made it to week six last year.

It was reported earlier this year that Strictly bosses were hoping to sign Loose Women star Sophie Morgan as the show’s first wheelchair contestant.

They were understood to have thought Ms Morgan, who has worked in TV for nearly 20 years, would have been ‘ideal’.

Published

on

Baccarat is a popular casino game that offers players to win big money. However, winning consistently in บาคาร่า can be challenging, and many players struggle to increase their income. In this article, we’ll discuss some strategies that can help get more income in บาคาร่า betting.

Understand the rules of the game.

Before you start playing baccarat, it’s essential to understand the rules of the game. Baccarat is a game of chance outcome of each round is determined by the cards dealt. However, understanding the different types of bets and their odds can help you make more informed decisions during gameplay. In บาคาร่า three types of bets: the banker’s hand, the player’s hand, and a tie. The banker’s hand’ has the best odds, with a house edge of just 1.06%. The player’s hand has slightly worse odds, with a house edge of 1.24%, while a tie bet has a much higher house edge of 14.36%.

Manage your bankroll in บาคาร่า betting

Managing your bankroll is crucial in บาคาร่า, as it can help you minimize your losses and maximize your winnings. It’s essential to set a budget for your gambling session and stick to it. You should also decide on the size of your bets and avoid betting more than you can afford to lose.

Bet on the banker’s hand.

As mentioned earlier, the banker’s hand has the best odds of winning in บาคาร่า. It’s recommended bet on the banker’s hand in most situations, as it gives you the highest chance of winning. However, you should be aware commission is charged on banker bets, usually around 5%, which can reduce your overall winnings.

Use a บาคาร่า betting strategy.

Many players use betting strategies in บาคาร่า to increase their chances of winning. The Martingale system is a popular strategy that involves doubling your bet after each loss until you win. Another strategy is the Paroli system, which increases your chance after every win until you reach a predetermined amount.

While these strategies can be effective in the short term, they do not guarantee long-term success. It’s essential to understand that บาคาร่า is a game of chance, and there is no guaranteed way to win every time.

Look for a pattern

Some baccarat players believe there are patterns in the way cards are dealt and use this to their advantage. However, it’s essential to understand that บาคาร่า is a random game, and there is no guarantee that a pattern will continue.

Take advantage of bonuses and promotions.

Attract new players and retain existing one’s online casinos, frequently offer bonuses and promotions. These bonuses can include free spins, deposit bonuses, and cashback offers. Taking advantage of these bonuses can help you increase your bankroll and improve your chances of winning in baccarat.

Practice and learn from your mistakes.

Like any casino game, practice is essential in บาคาร่า. You can play for free at numerous online casinos to hone your skills and develop your strategy. It’s also crucial to learn from your mistakes and analyze your gameplay to identify areas for improvement.

Bet runs.

Baccarat betting is based on instinct rather than science. Traditional wisdom, particularly in online บาคาร่า, suggests that you should not break a run.

In other words, if you’re betting on a Player and the Player continues to win, don’t switch to a betting banker. Maintain a consistent betting strategy and stick to it. If the pattern changes, switch. Try to persevere if you make a few sudden changes. Learn to adapt to the flow game and stick with it for the long haul. Baccarat isn’t typically a game that people play for a few hands and then leave. Baccarat is played by big betters with extremely high table minimums who will play for several hours, allowing a lot of money to change hands.
